 IRENE GENDELMAN, O.D. – Optometrist

Dr. Gendelman graduated with her Doctorate of Optometry from the distinguished Marshall B. Ketchum University and her Bachelors of Science in Biology from the University of California, San Diego. Her past clinical experience includes practicing at the Eyecare Associates of Utah, Sharp Reese Stealy Healthcare System, and Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Phoenix. She has enhanced training in dealing with a wide variety of primary eye care cases affecting people of all ages. Dr. Gendelman also played a role as an Investigator on vision related research funded by the National Institute of Health in Boston. She holds awards and scholarships for her work in ocular disease and low vision, an area of optometry that serves the visually impaired. Dr. Gendelman is a firm believer in community involvement and volunteering. Her mission trips in the past have taken her to El Salvador and deep into the Baja peninsula providing eye care to underserved populations. Here in San Diego she has been involved with providing vision screenings at a school for homeless children as well as community eye exams through the Lion’s Club. Dr. Gendelman is excited to be practicing in Santee and San Diego’s East County. She strives to be an integral part of the community supporting local business and being an active member of the Santee Chamber of Commerce. She welcomes everyone from the community to visit the practice, our doors are always open.

 SMIT PATEL, O.D. – Optometrist

Dr. Patel graduated Cum Laude with a Doctorate of Optometry from Marshall B. Ketchum University and is also an alumnus of University of California, San Diego. He completed a residency training program in Primary Eye Care and Low Vision through the San Diego Veterans Affairs Healthcare System. His experience includes internships at the Center for the Partially Sighted in Santa Monica, Veterans Affairs Clinic in Bakersfield, and Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Arizona. He enjoys working with the Lions Club and in the past has volunteered with a local school that serves homeless children, clinics down the Baja peninsula, and the Junior Achievement program teaching young students about business and personal finance.  Dr. Patel merged his practice with his wife at Santee Family Optometry in 2017 and enjoys practicing in the community of Santee. In his free time he appreciates traveling with his family and photography. He also happens to love food and has considered being a full time foodie.

 ELAINE LIMPIADO, O.D. – Associate Optometrist

Dr. Limpiado attended the University of California, San Diego, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in General Biology, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree at the UIW Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Limpiado practices full scope optometry and is licensed in the treatment and management of ocular disease with therapeutic pharmaceutical agents. Her externship training included clinical rotations at a veterans affairs medical center and an eye surgery center. She has had in-depth training in the treatment and management of dry eye disease, ocular infections & inflammations, and ocular pathology including, but not limited to glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Limpiado provides comprehensive eye care to her patients as well as specialty contact lens fits including multifocal, scleral and corneal refractive therapy. She also co-manages in refractive surgery pre/post operative care. In her spare time, Dr. Limpiado likes to go to the beach, camp, and travel.
